Run, run as fast as you can!

This past weekend was the Twin Cities Marathon weekend. Besides the marathon, they also hold a 10 mile, 10K, 5K, 1 mile, 1/2 mile, toddler trot and diaper dash. I ran the 10k - I wasn't really as prepared as I would have liked to have been, so the end of the race was a bit of a challenge. Still, I finished and survived. There are no pictures of me, cuz my race was at 7:30 am and I was sent by myself. : (

Maggie and daddy ran the 1/2 mile race! This was Maggie's first organized race and she did great! They had all the kids split up by grade level so it wasn't so much of a mob scene. She was one of the first kids over the finish line for the K and under group! I asked her if she would want to do it again next year, and she said, "no, I'll be too tired!" : )

Maya was mad that she wasn't able to run too, so she and daddy did a modified "race" down the sidewalk, while Maggie and I cheered with the thundersticks at the "finish line". Next year Maya.

Here we are waiting for Maggie's race to begin. The thundersticks were all ready to go! (Grandma and Grandpa will love this...Maya calls the thunderstics "cougars". All that cheering with the WSU pom poms rubbed off!)

Maggie and daddy at the start line!

On your marks... get set...

Go!

Crossing the finish line with a hug from Daddy!

She even got a medal! (all the kids did)

Post race pictures with Mr. Bubble, and...

...the Bubba Gump Shrimp. (yes, you can guess who's idea these pictures were - not mine!)
We had a great time and we all got our daily workout in before noon. The weather wasn't great and it was cold, but I think even daddy was glad we went. : )

Happy 5th Birthday Maggie!

Our little girl is now the big 5! I can't believe how fast those 5 years went. She is quite the grown up girl!

Since we were in Seattle for her birthday, we had our little family present opening party a few days early before we left for the trip.

Hmmmm....I wonder what it could be?

A new necklace and a whole bunch of rings!

A new book of Disney animal stories!

A super cool fairy jewelry box, complete with the little turning fairy that plays music when you open it.

What could be in this last box?

Yes!!!!! A new 2-wheen scooter!!!!!!

When we were in Seattle, we met up with my best friend Kristin, and her two boys, CJ and Gabriel. CJ's birthday is 2 days after Maggie's, so naturally we headed to Red Robin for lunch where they could be embarrassed by the Red Robin birthday song and get a free birthday sundae!!!!

Mmmmm....whipped cream!

Needless to say, neither one of them left ANYTHING in the bowl!

Next was the party at Grammy and Poppy's house. Cousins Clara and Owen were there, along with all the great grandpa's and grandma's on the Kelly side. One of the favorite gifts...the bright orange bear-ghost from Great Gram P. and new earings from Grammy!

The next day it was off to Grandma and Grandpa's house for the Field side birthday party. This one was complete with a Care Bear theme. Maya was cashed out, but still got a hat!

Being silly with Uncle Devin.

Grandma is a cake specialist, and made this Care Bear cake. (oops on the cross eyes!)

Make a wish!

Blow out the candles!

Thankfully I got out of doing the friend party this year...I think she had plenty of parties - don't you? She's one very lucky little girl. : )

Preschool

Thursday was Maggie's first day of 4 year old preschool! She had her outfit picked out days in advance, complete with heavy tights...just right for an 80+ degree day! She went off with new princess lunchbox and Tinkerbell back pack in tow. She's now going Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:30 -2:30. She loves the longer days and getting to eat lunch at school and I finally get some one on one time with Maya.

In front of her classroom, showing her brown bear name tag. Her class is the Brown Bears.

Before the parents left for the day, her teacher, Mrs. Ringrose gave the kids this little note to give the parent. It was really cute.
Here's what it says if you can't read it:
Hugs and kisses for you today.
Have no worries while I'm at play.
I'm making new friends in this new place,
See you at 2:30 with a smile on my face!
Love,
Your Brown Bear
Attached to it was a little bag of Hershey's Kisses and Hugs. Yum! Maya and I really enjoyed them!

Tea Party

Aaron and I were invited to a tea party the other day. There were six of us all together...Daddy, Mommy, Big Bear, Little Bear, Maggie and Maya. We all squished around the little table and had a wonderful morning filled with tea and other delicious goodies homemade right in the living room kitchen.

We had a great time playing with the girls. No one was fighting...well, except for over who got which color cup...and no one was whining...well, except for who got to sit in what chair next to what bear... All in all, a fun and peaceful morning. Cheers!

Summer's Last Hurrah!

Labor Day weekend was the last weekend for our neighborhood pool to be open. Thankfully the weather was nice enough for us to get our last long weekend of use out of it. We used it tons this summer and are definitely glad to have it!

Beeping

A short conversation with the Magster earlier today in the car.

MJ: Mom, my leg is beeping!

Me: Well, I don't really think your leg is beeping.

MJ: It is...and I think I know how it is beeping.

Me: Really? How?

MJ: I think God is poking it.

Big day

Last Saturday was a big day in the life of our little Maggie. First of all, it was the weekend of Woodbury Days, so the girls and I loaded up and went out to join in the festivities. And what could be better than crazy hair?!

Next (and this is the BIG reveal) Mags and I, along with our neighbor Paula and her daughter Kyra headed out to a girls lunch and, yes you guessed it, EAR PIERCING! It was the day they both had been waiting for. Mags picked out her ear rings (little silver ball studs) and sat bravely in the chair, not really knowing what was going to happen.
Then it hit her like a ton of bricks!

And then it was over and she was all over the store wanting everything Claire's sold.

Now she's happy as a clam and very responsible for keeping her ears cleaned multiple times a day. She's pretty darn cute too. : )
