Pool Party

Today was an absolutely beautiful, sunny, warm day. So what else do you do with 5 kids but take them all to the pool! Yes, I said 5 kids. Megan and Lily were over for the day, and we decided to relieve Paula of Doobie so she could get some house cleaning done. So we loaded up the wagon with an incredible number of towels, life jackets, noodles, toys, goggles, snacks and all the rest, and headed down the block to the pool. The kids said the water was warm, but I put only a toe in, and spent the rest of the time relaxing in my lawn chair....that is if you think that "relaxing" is putting life jackets on...taking them off...putting them back on...taking them back off...goggles on, goggles off, goggles on, goggles off...towels on, towels off, towels on, towels off...and so on so forth. You get the picture. The kids had a great time goofing around, floating till they could float no more.

Maya is very excited that she can now float all by herself in her new life jacket. Mommy and Daddy are excited too now that we don't have to hold her in the water anymore!!!

Floating with the noodle.

Getting on the goggles.

There she goes!

Here's the crew.

Time for a warm up break.

And a snack break.

Where'ya goin'?

Chillin' on the edge.

And when we were completely water logged and got back to the house, it was of course time for popcicles.

Yummy!
This all happened of course after we had an unscheduled trip to the doctor this morning. Last week, Maggie with a ruptured ear drum, today, Maya with a hurting arm. She'd been holding her arm last night after Aaron picked her up kinda weird trying to get her to stand up and brush her teeth. Anyway, we didn't really think anything of it and told her that it would feel better if her arm "rested" while she slept. Anyway, she woke up crying this morning and I went in to find her laying on her back not wanting to pick her arm up because it hurt too much. She continued to hold onto it and I decided to call the doc. So with Megan and Lily in tow, the 5 of us made the trek to the doctor to get her arm checked out. After an X-ray he determined it is fine, but thought that she probably partially dislocated her elbow. I guess little kids have real loose joints, and lots of elbows and shoulders can become dislocated when you pick them up by their wrists. Anyway, he of course moved her arm all around and apparently jiggled things back into place because she now seems as good as new...and it didn't hinder her swimming in any way! Aaron freaked out though, at the thought of possibly being responsible for breaking her arm. Yikes!! Hopefully there will be no more trips to the doctor until their regularly scheduled appointments!

cute new backdrop. Wish I could be there in the pool. It's been really hot (in the 90's) here. A pool would be really nice.
