An update on me

Since my little "episode", all has been well, but a few of you have let me know that you'd like to know the results of all my tests. So.... my heart echo and holter monitor results were normal. My heart is good to go. My bloodwork showed that some of my thyroid levels are a little off - low I think. Anyway, I have to have that re-tested in a couple months to see if it's still low. I have no idea what happens if it still is. My MRI did show something. I guess there is a 7 mm lesion in my brain somewhere. It looks like it is a hemangioma - basically a bulging blood vessel. I have a meeting with a neurologist next Friday to go over things, but from the little we know, this is not terribly dangerous. It seems to be nearer to the venous system, rather than the arterial side, which means the pressure is not great and if it were to burst it wouldn't cause major damage. My doctor said that most likely I'll have to have periodic MRI's to make sure it isn't growing or changing. We'll know more next week after we meet with the neurologist. So, that's that. Don't worry about me.

It had been a while since we'd done a "project". A learning project that is. So last week when it was rainy and cloudy out we got to work. Maggie had to find something in the house (or think of a word) that started with every letter of the alphabet and write it down. She did awesome with this. She got almost all of them and did her best to spell them by sounding out the words.

For Maya I set out all these letter cards I had all over the room. (we're still working on letter recognition) Then in a bowl I gave her these little chips with each letter on them. She was supposed to match the letter on the chip to the letter on the card. She started out with a bang.

Then peetered out after about 4 letters. Oh well. She still has the attention span of a gnat.

Then I thought it would be fun for them to create their names out of popcicle sticks. Maya has really been working on writing her name lately and has finally succeeded!!! (that Y was a tricky one!) So anyway, they made the letters and I helped them glue them together, then they got out the paints and went to work.

Mags wanted to add a "K" onto her name. "Just like it is on her mailbox" (at the gym).

After they were painted we added some ribbon and they became names on their bedroom doors. Another successful project!

I've fallen and I can't get up!!

All joking aside, I did fall and couldn't get up. Most of you already know this, but Monday night at 3 a.m. I woke up feeling nauseas. I got up to go to the bathroom to throw up, turned on the bathroom light, bent over the toilet and apparently collapsed and passed out. Aaron had happened to wake up as I turned on the light and saw me hit the bathroom floor. He freaked of course and immediately called 911. I woke up about a minute later or so lying spread out on the bathroom floor. I was dizzy, nauseas, unable to really move or think clearly. The paramedics came and checked me out not finding anything wrong. They let me sit up and when I did that the nausea came right back and I went right back to the toilet to throw up. The paramedics left and I continued to throw up every 20-30 minutes for the rest of the night. It was not fun. Aaron saw a life of single fatherhood flash before his eyes. Other than being completely exhausted I felt fine by morning. Aaron made me an appointment to see the doctor that afternoon. The doc couldn't pinpoint a cause either, but is putting me through all kinds of heart testing to make sure that isn't the cause. I'm sure it isn't. Right now I'm hooked up to a portable heart monitor for 3 days. Earlier today I had an echocardiogram (ultrasound of my heart) which was kinda cool to see, and next Tuesday I am having a brain MRI and ultrasound of my corrotoid artery. I'm positive all these things will be normal, but we just want to rule them out. I'm guessing I'll have all the results in a week or two and will let you all know. Meanwhile I am the talk of the neighborhood!

Maya had her little gymnastics the other day for her "Tumblers" class. She of course was in seventh heaven and thought she was the queen bee. She got a medal just like sissy did too.

This was the little floor routine they did. I missed the very beginning. The papers on the side of the mats are pictures of the skills the were supposed to do. Pretty cute!

Here's Maya goofing around on the trampoline.

Now I've got her signed up for "Super Tumblers" this summer. She's super excited!!!
